Kyrenia City



East Valley sea-front residential resort is located in Eastern Kyrenia and is only15 minutes from the city center. Kyrenia is the cultural, economic, and tourism center of North Cyprus. It is the second-largest city in terms of population and the largest in terms of tourist and ex-pat population in North Cyprus. It is home to numerous hotels, nightlife, 2 ports, and 2 marinas.

There are 16+ luxury hotels with large casinos in Kyrenia and it hosts an annual culture and arts festival with hundreds of participating artists. It is home to 4+ international universities with a student population of 15,0000+ and there are 8+ hospitals.

 

Kyrenia has been the tourism center for casinos, entertainment, students, and medical purposes for 30+ years hence the multimillion-dollar hotels, universities, seaports, and countless businesses are already attracting the largest tourist numbers compared to any other city in North Cyprus. Hotels (like Cratos, Kaya Palazzo, Lord’s Palace, Colony, Pia Bella, Pasha, Merit, Acapulco, Elexus) and universities (like Kyrenia American College, Final University, University of Kyrenia, Cyprus Science University) already attract the biggest numbers of tourist and ex-pat community to North Cyprus. Even when one Googles North Cyprus, only the pictures of the scenic old Kyrenia Harbor come up on the first page results.

 

The private hospitals, the best ones on the island are all located here. Kyrenia Suat Gunsel, Medical Port, Kolan British Hospital are just a few of the good ones that come to mind. Because of this, the government has the largest funding to Kyrenia when it comes to tourism, real estate, infrastructure, etc. Private investors are always chasing to get the best piece of land for the next 5-star hotel, university, hospital, or golf complex. There is a big competition among the investors to get a slice of this city that has the highest tourist numbers every decade since the 80s.

 

Kyrenia also has seen the largest real estate development among the cities in North Cyprus. This development started from the old town walled city emerging from the old harbor and spread across a straight line to East and West with Eastern towns of Bellapais and Ozankoy gaining higher popularity. The reason for the linear growth is that Kyrenia has a mountain range on one side and the Mediterranean sea on the other, the city and towns lay parallel in between the two. With the steady growth and popularity came the second marina and the third one is on the way.

Next on the line of this growth will be the Esentepe and Bahceli Towns to the East of the city. These towns are the last remaining towns of suburban Kyrenia that is yet to be developed. Following them, the Kyrenia ends and Famagusta begins.
