East Kyrenia

Kyrenia

Kyrenia has seen the largest real estate development among the cities in North Cyprus. This development started from the old town walled city in the Venetian and Roman times, emerging from the old harbor and spreading across a straight line to East and West.

The development gained momentum after 2004 with travel becoming easier with the admission of the Republic of Cyprus into the EU and the opening of the borders to the North part of the island. The city is growing in a straight line and the reason for the linear growth is that Kyrenia has a mountain range on one side and the Mediterranean sea on the other, the city and towns lay parallel between the two.

The demand for the unspoiled beauty of the Mediterranean brought growth to Kyrenia. Kyrenia has quickly become the tourism center for casinos, entertainment, students, and medical purposes hence the multimillion-dollar hotels, universities, seaports, and countless businesses are already attracting the largest tourist numbers compared to any other city in North Cyprus. With the steady growth and popularity came the second marina and the third one is on the way.

Outside of the crowded city, the suburban towns offer a quiet life integrated with nature, with luscious greens, sea views, private gardens, and pools. In the past eastern towns of Bellapais, Ozankoy and Catalkoy gained higher popularity and real estate has gained greater appreciation than the Western towns of Lapta, Alsancak, and Karsiyaka. East is also offering a better lifestyle with higher quality restaurants, schools, entertainment, and the opportunity to live close to the only Golf Course in North Cyprus. Next on the line of this growth will be the Esentepe and Bahceli Towns to the East of the city. These towns are the last remaining towns of suburban Kyrenia that is yet to be developed. Following them, the Kyrenia ends and Famagusta begins. This is why we expect a very strong appreciation for Esentepe; the next-in-line town to become part of the expanding Kyrenia City.

East Kyrenia

Today, East Kyrenia towns are home to scenic nature with the luscious green Kyrenia Mountain range on one side and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea on the other. These suburban towns are located 15 minutes’ drive to the center of Kyrenia City and 38 minutes’ drive from the Ercan International Airport. The region is considered the luxury real estate neighborhood with extravagant and affluent villas in North Cyprus concentrated in this region as well as some low-rise building complexes. The high-rises are not permitted in this region to preserve the natural beauty and habitat. Esentepe is home to the most outstanding and luxurious purpose-built Golf resort in North Cyprus. Scuba diving, hiking, camping, or sea turtle hatchling events are some other ways to enjoy nature in this region.

Esentepe is a neighborhood primarily targeted by Western Europeans offers a laid-back lifestyle to relax. Away from the high-rise buildings, hustle and bustle of the big cities, one can enjoy a swim in the morning, fresh produce food for lunch, golf in the afternoon, and a tasty dinner with wine at a nearby restaurant right above the sea watching the gorgeous sunset. Your dinner would probably be whatever fish caught earlier in the day, from the sea onto your plate, well of course with some prior intervention from the island-wide renowned chefs.

Live acoustic guitar or jazz can be a nice addition on the weekends. The luxury lifestyle is offered both on and off the golf course in this neighborhood with the most extravagant and affluent villas in North Cyprus concentrated in this region scattered in close proximity.

If all of this sounds good, you would be thrilled to hear that the power of your Dollar/Euro/British Pounds over the Lira easily makes all of this affordable with a monthly budget of around $1,500 for a couple. Actually, we might even be over-budgeting here so you might want to add a few trips to the spa and private massage sessions to the list. All of these reasons made this place the retirement haven or a family vacation home for the Western Europeans for a while now. Not to mention that the weather in Cyprus allows the keen golfer to enjoy the game in year-round sunshine.

Strong appreciation is another factor to consider when buying a golf property under the sun, where demand grows and surpasses supply every year, with some golf destinations in Europe turning members only with exclusive clubs to keep up. Esentepe is already a dream home destination of many local families and ex-pat retirees-to-be due to its close proximity to the city amenities offered by Kyrenia and the suburban lifestyle offered by the developing state of this town.

Most properties in Esentepe have direct access to the relatively private and quiet lagoon beaches, and they are also within a 5-minute driving distance from the famous Alagadi Beach where The Society for the Protection of Turtles is headquartered in partnership with Exeter University.

Some of the activities you can enjoy in the region include;
Golf at the 18-hole championship standard course
Diving / Boating / Kitesurfing
Tennis courts
Coastal and mountain walking
Gym & Pools
Turtle watching
Spa – available at local 5-Star hotels
Nightlife in Kyrenia City Center
